Autodesk University – Party & Design Slam
The party that took place the evening of day 3 was incredible. There was a lot of entertainment, good food, and beer. I really enjoyed watching people do bungee jumping on a trampoline. Good times!
Towards the end of the night they held the Design Slam finals powered by Cut&Paste. It was really cool watching top-notch designers creating designs on the fly. Below I posted pictures of 3D models being created from scratch. The designers had 20 minutes to create a “timepiece of the future.”

I have attended AU for the last 4 years and the Design Slam was absolutely the worst event I have ever attended. The party itself was nice, but the Design Slam competition was the kiss of death. The first Design Slam session most of the crowd thought it was interesting, but after 15 minutes people had enough… The rest of the entertainment was good, especially the comedian. But when the second Design Slam session started it was like you screamed FIRE in a crowed theatre, I mean people just ran for the door to get out of there. If you ever wanted to tell people when the party was over, that was it!
I disagree with frank. If you like design, you would have liked the event. If you have no design sense, then yes, it would have been boring. It was actually exciting to see design being made that quickly. Twenty minutes to design and then twenty minutes to model a complete watch is amazing. If your attention span is that short, you are in the wrong business.
